Privacy policy
Elogic is an application developed by Elogic Ltd. In accordance to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR; implemented 25 May 2018) our privacy policy explains how we use the personal data we collect from you when you use our application.
What data do we collect and why?
Our guiding principle is to only collect the data we need. Here’s what that means in practice:
Identity and access
When signing up to Elogic, we require identification information such as your name, email address and student number. This allows us to personalise your new account, and it enables instructor(s) and staff to link your Elogic account with their own records for the course(s) you are enrolled on. We will never sell your personal information to third parties, nor will we use you name for marketing purposes without your permission.
Analytics
When you use our application, your browser automatically shares certain information including the operating system and browser version you are using. We track that information, along with the pages you are visiting, page load timing, and session duration for statistical purposes. We do not associate this data to individual user identities.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect any information classified as a protected characteristics defined by the Equality Act 2010. We also do not collect any biometric data.
In accordance with the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
Distribution of data
We will not distribute your personal data to other parties with the exception of the following strict circumstances:

Your data is shared with the instructor and/or educational institution of the course(s) you are enrolled on, allowing them to associate your activities on Elogic with those in the non-Elogic-provided part of the course (if any).

To comply with laws and regulations should we receive such request from authorised bodies and/or organisations.

In order to protect our rights; intellectual property and safety; and to protect the rights, intellectual property and safety of others.
Retention of data
We will retain your personal data until your account is closed. You may choose to close your account at any time. We may, (from time to time), elect to close inactive accounts. Your personal data will be erased from our system within 30 days of your account’s closure.
We retain usage data for internal analysis purposes only for a short period of time. Exception being when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our service; or we are legally required to store this data longer.

How we secure your data
All data is encrypted via SSL/TLS when transmitted from our servers to your browser. The database backups are also encrypted.
We work very hard to protect information about you against unauthorised access, use, alteration, or destruction, and take reasonable measures to do so. We constantly monitor our services for potential vulnerabilities and attacks, eliminating any possible threats to our best capability.
What are your data protection rights?
Elogic would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Under the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR), every user is entitled to the following:
The right to request – You have the right to request Elogic for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Elogic correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Elogic to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Elogic erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that Elogic restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Elogic’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to data portability – You have the right to request that Elogic transfer the data that we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

Cookies and related technologies
Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information. When you visit our websites, we may collect information from you automatically or store data on your computer/device via cookies or similar technologies, but only as necessary to support the basic functionality of the application.
Privacy policies of other websites
The Elogic website contains links to other websites. Our privacy policy applies only to our website, so if you click on a link to another website, you should read their privacy policy.
Changes to our privacy policy
This privacy statement was last revised on June 16, 2020. We may change this privacy statement at any time and for any reason. If we make a significant change to our privacy statement, a notice shall be visible on the homepage of the website and shall remain for a reasonable period of time after the change has been implemented. If you have an account on Elogic we may also notify you of the change by email.
